Who we are and what we do

NHS South of England was formed on 3 October 2011 and is made up of three former strategic health authorities – South West Strategic Health Authority, South Central Strategic Health Authority and South East Coast Strategic Health Authority.

We are one of four Strategic Health Authority clusters in England.  The others are:  NHS North of England, NHS Midlands and East and NHS London.

Within each strategic health authority cluster there are a number of Primary Care Trust clusters and a number of NHS Trusts – including hospitals – providing a broad range of health services.
